California Push Technologies in Menlo Park, CA, uses a Geoprobe® 6625CPT machine at a California refinery where CPT data was used to develop stabilization criteria for old sludge ponds. Because of the oil and other residuals, John Rogie and Jerry Droze with California Push Technologies, wore complete PPE gear while working. The track mounted machine’s small footprint (approximately 53 sq.ft. [5 sq.m.]) allows for easy mobilization and maneuverability.. |

For its two-year birthday in October, the 6625CPT
machine owned by California Push Technologies Inc. has
logged a total of 1,600 hours on its work meter. “Either
the hour meter that Geoprobe® installed isn’t working
correctly,” joked John Rogie, President of CPT Inc. in
Menlo Park, CA, “or Geoprobe® sold us a reliable machine
that sees use every day. Having a reliable and capable CPT rig we can count on is why our clients keep coming back for more!”
“Having a reliable and capable CPT rig that we can count on
daily for heavy use, on difficult terrain, and in difficult access
situations is why our clients keep coming back for more!”

The 6625CPT machine presents a total package for companies providing geotechnical services with some direct push sampling on the side. This self-anchoring, multipurpose push platform is the only one of its kind available in the U.S. designed specifically for geotechnical Cone Penetration Testing (CPT). The 6625CPT machine does the same work as a 20-ton static CPT rig, but it’s easier to transport and operate on site. Its light weight ... just 5 tons ... doesn’t diminish the machine’s 20-ton push capabilities.
Although the machine was designed to perform Cordless CPT and Seismic CPT, you can also complete standard Geoprobe®-type environmental sampling and logging work including Hydraulic Profiling (HPT), Electrical Conductivity (EC) logging, Membrane Interface Probe (MIP) logging, and soil and groundwater sampling. It’s the only multi-purpose machine that can perform both geotechnical and environmental functions. Setup and pushing capabilities are easier for CPT soundings using the 6625CPT because of its automatic anchor placement, wireless remote control for all hydraulic functions, and center pushing through a CPT clamp system. “We absolutely would not be doing so well,” John added, “without the outstanding support and customer service that Geoprobe Systems® has provided us. Everyone at Geoprobe® is a huge help, and we sincerely appreciate that relationship."
